Privacy Policy

    Last updated: November 5, 2025

Beavo ("we," "our," or "us") provides a browser extension and web platform that helps product, design, and QA teams annotate live websites collaboratively. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to being transparent about how we handle your information.

    1. Information We Collect

Beavo is designed to collect and store as little personal data as possible.

    a. Information stored locally

Your annotation data (pins, comments, positions) and extension settings are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.

This data remains on your device unless you sign in to a Beavo account to sync across devices or share annotations with teammates.

    b. Information collected when signed in

If you use the Beavo web platform (e.g., to log in or share annotations):

    • We collect basic account information (name, email, and workspace name) to identify your organization and enable collaboration.
    • We may log usage events (e.g., extension opened, comment created) to improve product reliability and performance.

    c. No browsing data

Beavo does not collect, transmit, or sell your browsing history or page content. The extension only runs on pages where you explicitly activate it.

    2. How We Use Information

We use your data solely to:

    • Display, sync, and share your annotations.
    • Improve Beavo's functionality and user experience.
    • Communicate with you about updates, support, or feedback (if you've opted in).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

    3. Data Storage & Security

    • Local data is stored using browser APIs (chrome.storage.local) and is not accessible to us.
    • Cloud-synced data (if you log in) is stored securely using encrypted connections and industry-standard security practices.
    • You can delete your account or request data removal at any time by contacting us at privacy@beavo.ai.

    4. Permissions

Beavo requests only the minimum permissions required to function:

    • storage – save user settings and annotations.
    • activeTab – allow annotations only on the active page when the user activates the extension.
    • scripting – inject annotation overlay code into the current tab when enabled.

Beavo does not access or modify web content without user action.

    5. Third-Party Services

If you use Beavo with your workspace (e.g., for authentication or collaboration), we may use trusted third-party services like Supabase or Firebase to store data securely. These providers comply with GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations.

    6. Your Rights (EEA & UK Users)

    You have the right to:

    • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
    • Withdraw consent to processing at any time.
    • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
